Happy Birthday, Ray Park!

According to the Official Star Wars Blog, today is Ray Park's birthday. I did not klnow this, so hopefully it's correct, and I'm not posting this on the wrong day.

Darth Maul is my favourite Star Wars villian. Maybe even my all-time favourite villian. (Don't tell my dad, or it'll be endless teasing for me...)

Tanglewood

If you have been paying any attention to my blog, and to the would of music and Star Wars, you probably know that yesterday, 18th August, was John Williams' 80th birthday. And you might also know that I went to Tanglewood for the Celebration. Actually, I went to the rehearsal, so it wasn't the same. John Williams was banned from attending the rehearsal, because it was supposed to be a surprise. The special guests were also not present at the rehearsal :( but I looked it up so I could tell you what happened.
Special Guests:
-Steven Spielberg
-Seiji Ozawa
-President Obama (on video)
-Clinton (former US president)
-Boston Red Sox members
-Jesse Norman
-Yo-Yo Ma

But even though I didn't go to the actual performance, I had a great time. And I wore my Star Wars shirt!
Songs played (Not in order):
-Star Wars Main Theme (With video)
-Fanfare for Fenway (With video)
-Air and Simple Gifts
-Olympic Fanfare
-You've got a Friend
-Happy Birthday
(And others I can't remember)
But they didn't play The Raider's March :(

Here are my pictures:

Happy 80th Birthday, John Williams!!

Today is John William's 80th birthday! Probably his most famous works are Star Wars and Indiana Jones. He did Jaws, Harry Potter, Superman, and many others. He also did some music for the Olympics. Here are some music videos of his famous scores:

That Superman Theme brings back so many memories of "The Superman Prayer" we used to sing at church events when I was little. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

And now, for a whole bunch of Star Wars music!!

UPDATE:
I just came back from Tanglewood, where we saw the rehersal for John Williams' Birthday Celebration. It's a surprise, so I can't tell you anything yet, but I will next time I post. But I will tell you one thing: It was great!

Hallmark Christmas Ornaments

Hallmark stores always get their Christmas stuff out real early, and according to them "It's that time of year, again." Well, I do like to look at their ornaments each year, especially their movie ones. And this year, they have 7 Star Wars!

And Star Trek only has three. HA!

Also, there is a Gandalf ornament for The Hobbit:

Henceforth, I shall be known as . . .

Padmé Arya Éowyn Istalrí Skywalker.

Don't worry, Need2read hasn't left, I'm still here. I just change my name. It's long, I know, but I really like it. Each of the names mean something to me. Here is the explaination:

 Padmé

"I will not condone a course of action that will lead us to war."

Padmé is strong, brave and beautiful. She's not afraid to speak her mind and stand up for what is right. She's probably my favourite character from the Star Wars saga.

Arya

"To late. It's hatched. ... Poor Durza, how will he tell the king? You failed."

Arya is the Elf princess from Eragon. But she's not just a princess, she also a warrior. And she's not afraid, even in the face of torture and death. **SPOILER**And in the last book of the Inheritance cycle, she becomes a Rider.

Éowyn

"I fear neither death nor pain. ... [I fear]A cage. To stay behind bars until use and old age; accept them and all chance of valor has gone beyond recall or desire."
Éowyn is a noblewoman, but she refuses to sit around and do nothing when she can help. When left behind, she dresses as a man and joins the quest anyway. In the end, she ends up destroying the Witch King, whom no one else could defeat.

On day at lunch, my friends were matching everyone in the circle with Lord of the Rings characters. They matched me with Éowyn. At the time, I had no idea who she was, but now I do. If this is who my friends see me as, then I am honoured.

Istalrí

"Istalrí" means fire in the Ancient Language of the Inheritance series by Christopher Paolini.
Istalrí is also the name of my baby dragon.

Fire reminds me of Katniss, Girl on Fire, from The Hunger Games.

"I volunteer! No! I volunteer! I volunteer as tribute!"

Katniss puts her family before herself. She risks discovery and punishment when she hunts illegally to keep her mother and sister from starving. When her sister is chosen for The Games, Katniss volunteers to take Prim's place, saving her sister from certain death.

Skywalker

"I'm a Jedi."

As a young boy, Anakin Skywalker took the fate of strangers into his own hands and risked his life in a dangerous race to help them. One of those strangers was a Jedi, who identified Anakin as The Chosen One.
As a result, he became a Jedi himself.
He gave up his normal way of life to serve the Jedi order and help beings in the galaxy.
During his time as a Jedi, he struggled to follow the Code. In conflict, he fell to the Dark Side.
But years later, he was redeemed by his son when he realized that love is stronger than all the powers of darkness.

So, that's my new name. I really like it, and I hope you do, too. Let me know what you think!

A song, I have found.

Make that two songs...

I have finally decided what song(s) to sing for my auditions.

I will sing In Dreams:

But, since this song is fairly short, I will also sing May It Be, which goes along with In Dreams perfectly:

Hopefully, these songs will be good for my auditions, but if the director wants something else, I can always sing another song...

Hep me again!!

I just recently asked y'all for help on picking a song for auditons (still working on that!) and now I need your help again.
When I started my other blog, I named it "need2read" because I love books and I could not live without reading. And then I named myself the same thing! It's been bothering me for a while. I mean, who really has a name like that? So that is where you come in. I need a new name.
I'd prefer something unusual (not anne or liz or something) but not something too wierd, either. I'm thinking something Star Wars-y or fantasy-ish. But not too complicated.

I can't wait to see what you suggest. It's something I've been meaning to do for a while, and it needs to get done. After all, a name says a lot about a person :)
