There are so many other space fantasies and science fiction stories out there, so why choose Star Wars to be crazy about? Well, that is a great question! Let me start with the background story for Star Wars. In 1977 George Lucas created the first episode in the Star Wars saga. Here is where it gets a little confusing. It is known as Episode IV(that is, four, in case you were wondering. It is vital to have a common knowledge of Roman numerals if you want to understand the ordering of the episodes. Here is a lesson: One(1) is I, Two(2) is II, Three(3) is III, Four(4) is IV, Five(5) is V, and Six(6) is VI. IF you want to know more, you will have to go elsewhere, seeing that this is not a Roman numeral blog). This first movie was simply called "Star Wars", but was later changed to "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope." In 1980, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back was released and in 1983, the final episode, Return of the Jedi came to theatres. In 1999, Star Wars fans were taken back to the beginning of the epic story in The Phantom Menace (Episode I). Episode II, Attack of the Clones was released in 2002. The saga was completed in 2005 with Revenge of the Sith, the story that reveals all the mysteries and secrets.
One reason why this saga is so popular is that it has lasted for so long. Not only were people in 1977 fascinated by the story and the amazing technology, but kids today are still crazy about it. Many children have seen it (especially the boys) and even most who have not will know at least what it is. I just saw them for the first time last November-April (it took a while to coordinate with my friends), but I have known who Luke, Leia, and Darth Vader are since long before then. Another reason why Star Wars is appealing to so many people is that it has everything in it. Romance, action, technology, fantasy, science fiction, Star Wars has it all.
So, if you haven't seen them, give them a try. You might find that you really do like them. And if you already are crazy about them, so am I, so join the club. Don't be ashamed or embarrassed about it. All kind of people like Star Wars, Old and Young, Girls and Boys.

You have a cool blog, vey beautiful. I will continue coming.
ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks for stopping by my blog! You should definitely read The Dark Is Rising books, NOTHING like the movie!
ReplyDeleteI am CRRRRRAZY about Star Wars! Have been since I was a kid. And I've got a whole bookshelf full of the EU novels. Fun!
I have mixed feelings about them continuing the saga on the big screen... but I'll reserve my opinion until I see what they come up with. I desperately hoping it's something GOOD! ;o)
